Smith Lake Visitors and area Residents join Smith Lake Living in practicing a new campaign LEAVE NO
MARK while in the area or on the water. If you carry items on the boat, on your dock, or maybe just touring
the area, we are asking for you to Leave No Mark. Carry a trash bag while you are boating on the lake and
at the end of the day place it in the proper trash receptacle. Smith Lake is not a trash dumping ground and
sinking your discarded items is littering.
So next time you are out boating and something blows out of the boat et: cup, hat, towel, etc. please be
a good stewart and retrieve it from the lake. Remember to secure all items on your boat dock to make sure
the wind doesn’t blow them in the lake.
Please encourage violators whether visitor and resident to the lake by reminding them about no
littering and asking them to support Leave No. Mark.
Smith Lake is blessed with numerous miles of vacant shoreline and many areas are in the Bankhead
National forest. If you visit one of the areas to picnic, swim, or just hang out for the day make sure you
LEAVE NO MARK for the next visitor to enjoy a clean area.
Smith Lake residents and businesses are proud of our lake and many individuals and groups strive
hard to keep Smith Lake clean. Smith Lake is the cleanest lake in the state and join us in LEAVE NO MARK
to make sure we keep that title.
